STUDENT NURSES' ASSOCIATION (SNA)

NURSING SCHOOL LUNGLEI NIT 

SNA Nursing School Lunglei Unit was formed on 20th June 1996. Since the inception of the school, the Student Nurses' Association (SNA) has been an active and important part of the institution.  The main purpose of forming the Association was to provide opportunity to the nursing students to facilitate their all round development .The Student Nurses' Association, popularly known as SNA, is a nation-wide organization of nursing students. It was established in 1929 at the time of annual conference of the TNAI (Trained Nurses Association of India) in Madras. A wide variety of activities are encouraged at all levels for the SNA members, keeping in view aims and objectives of the association. The diversity of activities are derived from the professional, social, cultural and recreational spheres to strengthen curricular and extracurricular activities of the student nurses.

 

AIM

The aim of the SNA is to provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interest concerns to nursing students. Membership in SNA aids in the development of the whole person, including the professional role.

Objectives of SNA

  • To uphold the dignity and honour of the nursing profession.
  • To promote participation in student community affairs.
  • To involve the students in intercollegiate sports and cultural activities.
  • To promote collaborative relationships with various health organizations.
  • To bring out the talents and confidence of the students for the upliftment of self and society.
  • To inculcate the value of espirit de corps.
  • To develop leadership abilities among the students.
  • To improve the students social contacts to enhance professional growth.

Activities of SNA NURSING SCHOOL LUNGEI UNIT

1.      Organizing annual sports which include a variety of  indoor and outdoor activities.

2.      Takes part in national  biennial SNA meets

3.      Takes active part in annual state SNA meet

4.      The student body has a talented choir named 'NSL CHOIR'  and dance crew named 'NSL DANCE CREW' whose members actively participate in different functions and ceremonies.

5.      Organizing cleanliness drive at the campus and nearby vicinities

6.      Organizes blood donation drive among the students on special days such as Valentine's day, ENF day and Nurses Day and as needed by the patient and Blood Bank.

7.      Organizing observance of important events like Teacher’s day, Freshers' Social, Farewell programs for outgoing students, Advance Christmas programs etc.

8.      Takes active part in observance of important days like World AIDS Day, No Tobacco Day, ENF Day, Nurses Day, etc

9.      Fund raising activities.

10. Student representatives are appointed as members of anti ragging committee.

11. Students participated actively in Red Ribbon Club (Awareness on HIV/AIDS)

Anti Ragging

12.     Ragging of any kind is strictly prohibited and students found to be involved in such act shall be punished as per the Hon’ble Supreme Court directions.

13. 1. Notice/Circular for prohibition of Ragging is available on Notice Board and Admission Brochure or Prospectus

14. 2. Display posters/ Charts on prohibition of ragging in common places.

15. 3. There is Anti-ragging committee and anti ragging squad.

16. 4. Leaflet were distributed among fresher's students to detail out the telephone number mentioned whom to approach in case of ragging including anti ragging committee/squad addresses and contact number.

Terms and conditions

1. Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:

  • 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. However Science is preferable.
  • Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course OR Vocational Stream- Health care Science recognized by INC, CBSE, State or Centre

2. Reservation for disabled candidates : 3% disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity.

3. Admission of students shall be once in a year.

 

4. Students shall be medically fit

 

5. Minimum age for admission will be 17 years (as on 31st December of that year). The upper limit is 35 years. For ANM or LHV, there is no age bar.

 

6. Simultaneous attendance in other courses is not permitted during the course of training.

 

7.List of documents to be attached in the application form :-

    Attested Photo copy of:

    I) Marksheet and certificate of HSLC & HSSLC

    ii) Residential certificate

    III) Tribal certificate

    iv) 2 copies of recent passport photo

8. Selection will be based on entrance test and interview conducted by the institution selection board.

9. The entrance test will be based on Higher Secondary standard - General English, General knowledge and simple arithmetic.

10. The Government of Mizoram constitute that the selection Board comprises of Deputy Director (N), Nursing Superintendent of the hospital, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Senior tutor of the school under the chairmanship of the Principal.

Rules and Regulations

1. Any of the following acts shall be considered a major offence against discipline and good conduct and can lead to suspension / dismissal of the student.

a) Absence of clinical duty and irregular attendance and truancy, smoking, playing cards etc.

b) Use of various forms of intoxicating drugs, alcohol in the school and hostel premises and outside.

c) Various forms of immoral behaviour and resorting to violence of any kinds : Strike, Thievery etc.

d) Disfiguring of School / Classroom wall, furniture etc. and destruction of School, hostel and hospital property.

e) Disobedience or defiance or disrespect to teaching staff and other staff and authorities.

f) Malpractices in examination, negligence shown in studies, homework, class test, assignment, irresponsiveness in class etc. will be viewed seriously.

2. Male Students are not allowed to enter Female students rooms without prior permission from the authority and Vice-Versa.

3. Ragging of any kind is strictly prohibited in the School and hostel premises, If Student is found to be involved in any act of ragging, actions will be taken as per order of Honourable Supreme Court of India.

Inspection

As the institution is recognized by Indian Nursing Council and Affiliated to Mizoram Nursing Council, the institution face periodic inspection from the said Councils.
